Strictly star will not face rape charges, police say

Strictly Come Dancing Star to Avoid Rape Charges, Police Confirm

Hertfordshire Police have announced that a male celebrity from the BBC dance series will not be subjected to criminal proceedings following an arrest on suspicion of rape. The individual, whose name has not been disclosed, was taken into custody on 13 October 2025 and granted bail for further investigation. A recent update from the force stated that after consulting with the Crown Prosecution Service, detectives concluded there was “not enough evidence” to pursue formal charges.

“There will be no criminal charges brought against an individual arrested by Hertfordshire Constabulary in London on Monday 13 October 2025 on suspicion of rape,” the police confirmed. “The man, who had his bail extended until today, Tuesday 7 April 2026, will face no further action.”

The Sun had previously reported that the man was accused of raping a woman following a BBC event. The woman involved was not a contestant or professional dancer on the show but had connected with him through his participation in the competition. The incident does not pertain to the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing, which is currently being filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood.

Earlier in the year, another individual associated with the popular dance program was arrested in August 2025 on suspicion of rape and non-consensual intimate image abuse. Details about the role of this second person in the show remain unclear. The police have since stated that the current case is separate from the previous investigation.
