Dan Walker to appear at tribunal as ex co-host brings bullying claim
Dan Walker Set for Employment Tribunal Over Bullying Claims
Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, a former co-host on Channel 5 News, has initiated a legal case against Dan Walker, accusing him of bullying. The employment tribunal, which will take place in London, is scheduled to begin on 20 April and is expected to last five weeks, according to Vanderpuije’s lawyer Jonathan Coad. Walker, who previously hosted BBC Breakfast and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, joined Vanderpuije as a co-host on the news channel in 2022. She left the station in 2024.
ITN and Paramount Named in the Claim
ITN, the production company behind Channel 5 News, and its parent organization Paramount are also listed as respondents in Vanderpuije’s case. The Mail on Sunday first reported the allegations, which include accusations of sexism and misogyny against Walker. A spokesperson for ITN stated that the claim is “denied in full” and will be handled through the tribunal process.
Vanderpuije’s legal team claims that the former BBC Breakfast host faced bullying during their time working together. The Mail on Sunday cited a source indicating that Walker denies the allegations and has compiled over 50 character witness statements to support his case. An earlier internal investigation into the claims did not find any evidence of misconduct.
“This claim, which is denied in full, will be addressed through the tribunal process,” said an ITN spokesperson.
