EastEnders legend makes very unexpected return after 8 years
Here are the latest EastEnders spoilers for Monday’s (March 16) episode, now streaming on BBC iPlayer. The long-awaited return of a beloved EastEnders character has finally arrived, catching fans off guard as they tune in for the latest instalment of the BBC One soap.
Mother’s Day surprise shakes up the Square
As Mother’s Day unfolded in Walford, Peter Beale (Thomas Law) surprised his wife, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), with a grand gesture. The family gathering at 45 Albert Square turned into a whirlwind of emotions, setting the stage for a dramatic turn of events.
Lauren’s joy was palpable as Cora Cross (Ann Mitchell) made an unannounced appearance, leaving her granddaughter stunned. The popular character, last spotted in the Square in 2018, has been a much-requested addition to the cast, especially as the Branning family saga has gained momentum.
Cora urged Lauren to not let the attack cloud her judgment, offering insight that sparked a moment of reflection.
The usual chaos of Albert Square quickly escalated with Cora’s presence at the dinner table, stirring up old tensions and new intrigue. Max Branning (Jake Wood) was particularly irked by Cora’s return, frequently dismissing her but finding himself challenged by her sharp wit.
Meanwhile, Lauren remained unsettled by her recent assault, orchestrated by Mark Fowler Jr (Stephen Aaron-Sipple), though she was unaware of its true motive. Cora’s advice to her, however, left a lasting impact as she agreed to consider Mark’s proposition for a potential business venture.
Cora departed after the festive gathering but not before reconnecting with her grandson Oscar (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) in a heartfelt moment. Ian’s (Adam Woodyatt) embrace of Oscar brought back memories of his late grandmother, Lou (Anna Wing), who had passed away in 1988.
Will Cora stay for good or vanish once more? The unpredictable nature of the Square continues to keep viewers guessing, delivering a welcome twist with her reappearance, even if only briefly.
