Israeli Air Strikes Target Beirut, Wreaking Destruction
Wednesday saw Lebanon endure its most severe bombardment from Israeli forces in the current conflict. The attack spanned 10 minutes, with Israel claiming to have executed approximately 100 strikes across the region. According to Lebanon’s health ministry, the toll included at least 182 fatalities and over 800 injuries.
The BBC’s Middle East Correspondent, Hugo Bachega, witnessed the aftermath of one such strike in Beirut. The scene revealed the extensive damage caused by the rapid aerial assault, underscoring the intensity of the attack.
On-Site Reporting Amid Crisis
Bachega was stationed in Beirut to document the impact of the strikes. His observations highlighted the immediate chaos and the scale of destruction witnessed during the brief but devastating attack.
“The intensity of the strikes was overwhelming, with multiple targets hit in quick succession,” Bachega noted in his report.
