Donald Trump, the US president, shared a fiery social media message on Tuesday, warning Iran of a potential destruction of its power plants and bridges if the country did not clear the Strait of Hormuz for all maritime traffic by the deadline. The post, laced with strong language, reiterated a prior threat to unleash “hell” but suggested there remained a “good chance” of a diplomatic resolution with Tehran.
The threat came shortly after the rescue of a second US fighter jet crew member from Iranian territory. Following the downing of an F-15 aircraft on Friday, both pilots had ejected, with one recovered quickly. The second serviceman was located in a rugged area of southwestern Iran, prompting urgent operations to secure his safety. The incident occurred amid escalating tensions, as Iran retaliated against US and Israeli airstrikes with attacks on Gulf Arab allies.

The blockade triggered a surge in global oil prices and raised fears of inflation worldwide. On Sunday, the president reaffirmed his demand on his Truth Social platform, setting a new timeline: “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!”
Iran’s retaliation extended to targeting US Gulf allies. A residential building in Haifa was hit by a ballistic missile on Sunday, injuring four individuals. In Abu Dhabi, fires broke out at a petrochemical plant due to debris from an Iranian missile strike. Kuwait also reported significant damage to oil infrastructure from drone attacks. Bahrain’s industrial and energy sites were similarly under threat.
As the conflict intensifies, both sides remain locked in a cycle of strikes and counterstrikes. The US and Israel’s aerial assaults on Iranian targets, including the Qasem Soleimani international airport, underscore the ongoing military escalation.
