Following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy in Woolwich, southeast London, two additional suspects have been charged with murder. The incident occurred on Lord Warwick Street around 3:40 PM BST on Thursday, leaving Eghosa Ogbebor dead at the scene. On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, while a 46-year-old man was also taken into custody on suspicion of aiding the perpetrator.
Earlier, three individuals—two teenagers aged 14 and 16, along with an 18-year-old man—were arrested on Friday but released on bail. The ongoing investigation into Eghosa’s death has seen increased police activity in the area, with officers continuing to gather evidence. Det Ch Insp Lucie Card, leading the inquiry, emphasized the community’s role in the process.
“Our dedicated detectives are actively pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding Eghosa’s tragic passing. Residents may have observed heightened police presence last night as part of this effort. We recognize the local community’s concern and will maintain a visible force to support the investigation,” Card stated.
