Ice Cube and ‘War of the Worlds’ top the Razzies

2025’s ‘War of the Worlds’ Dominates 46th Razzie Awards

The 46th Razzie Awards have unveiled their winners, with a single movie claiming multiple dubious accolades as the year’s most overrated release. The 2025 adaptation of *War of the Worlds* swept several categories, including worst picture, worst remake/rip-off sequel, worst screenplay, worst director, and worst actor, awarded to Ice Cube. This marks a notable streak for the film, which, like its 2005 predecessor starring Tom Cruise, is rooted in H.G. Wells’ 1898 novel. It received six nominations total, falling short of the worst screen combo title, which went to the seven CGI dwarfs from Disney’s *Snow White* (2025). The artificial septet also claimed the worst supporting actor award.

Awards Ceremony Timing and Tradition

The Golden Raspberry Awards, affectionately known as the Razzies, humorously honor the year’s most critically panned films. As is customary, the “winners” are revealed the day before the Academy Awards, adding a cheeky twist to the Oscar season. This year’s Razzie Redeemer Award was presented to Kate Hudson for *Song Sung Blue*, following her 2021 win for worst actress in *Music*.

“Shall we say, viewed as less than stellar.”
