Four killed in second Turkish school shooting in two days

A school shooting in southern Turkey has left at least four fatalities, according to local officials. The attack took place at Ayser Calık Secondary School in the Kahramanmaraş region, as reported by regional media outlets. The identity of the victims and the attacker’s fate are still under investigation, with no official details yet released.

Just one day prior, another school in the same area was targeted by an ex-student who opened fire before taking his own life. The initial incident left 16 people wounded, though the governor of Kahramanmaraş, Mükerrem Ünlüer, later stated that the toll had risen to 20 injured, some in critical condition. The motive for Wednesday’s attack remains unknown, prompting authorities to launch a full inquiry.

“The sound of gunfire was very intense,” a journalist from Turkish broadcaster NTV described, noting “panic in front of the school” as people scrambled to safety. Witnesses reported chaotic scenes, with crowds of onlookers and emergency vehicles visible in the footage.

Turkish news sources indicated the attacker was armed with five guns and seven magazines, which were believed to belong to his father. The weapon cache suggests a planned assault, though the exact sequence of events is still being pieced together. The second shooting has raised concerns about security in the region, following the earlier incident at a high school.
